   This film is the movie I recommend almost constantly at work. The odd person that has hunted down a copy of the film always come back to thank me.

   For all that this film is blood and guts, it’s also a biting social satire. At least, I could see some strong metaphors about how society takes school kids and grinds them up. From what I’ve heard of Japanese culture, it’s ever worse there.

   Other jap films with strong metaphors about social satire besides Miike’s that we liked are ‘Suicide Club’ and ‘Noriko’s Dinner Table’ by Sion Sono. Leeny, we’ve voted you too.
