JACK BROOKS: MONSTER SLAYER (2008)

NEW FORM OF
ANGER MANAGEMENT
FUN HORROR

Directed by: Jon Knautz
Written by: John Ainslie
Starring: Trevor Matthews, Robert Englund, Rachel Skarsten
Additional Syllables: In recent years the world of the creature feature has been in steep decline. So I am particularly happy to see this Canadian film enter into the cinematic fray.  Jon Knautz, in his first feature film, has done a great job at handling the fine line of horror / comedy.  Trevor Mathews makes a great anti-hero as Jack Brooks, but the movie was stolen by the fantastic performance by Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) as the Professor. If I was to have any complaints about the film, It would have to be over some of the dialogue. At times I felt the lines were a little on the forced side. This being a fun little horror film, that wasn’t that big of a draw back.

Overall a great first film for Jon Knautz, and I am hoping to see both Jon and Trevor back in sequels … please!
